The House at Chadwater anchors a 66-acre expanse of coastal prairie south of Lake Charles. The house and its lovely pastoral setting commemorate the vision of Chad and Jan Thielen, who originally owned the house and used it as the family residence. The expansion and adaptive reuse of the house make it ideal for accommodating food, entertainment, and special-event demands of all scales.

Chadwater’s event-center capability is enhanced by the surrounding restoration of Cajun prairie plantings.

What To Know

In addition to the rental rate, a $1,000 damage deposit is collected one month before the event. It is 100% refundable within 10 business days of the event provided that the House Rules are followed by the Group and all vendors.

The Courtyard & Patio area is a scenic outdoor gathering place that offers stunning views that frame your special event. It is adjacent to the Main House. Look outward, and your panoramic view is the preserved coastal prairie that underscores the natural beauty of Southwest Louisiana. Face the opposite direction, and you have the view of the stately, elegant Main House and its come-and-go access just steps away for food and drink.

Host Your Rehearsal Dinner

The large, graciously appointed upstairs area of the Main House can be arranged for a rehearsal dinner or other gathering. It also can be appropriately scaled for entertainment events and other celebrations. Additionally, the balcony, which completes a scenic breezeway, serves as an elegant focal point and presentation site before guests gathered on the patio and courtyard directly below.
